Savings bank Oma Säästöpankki opened new offices in Ideapark near Tampere, Finland, in December 2015. New location accentuates their slogan that promises to be near and present to the customers. The space, in turn, shows that they stand out among the competition.
“When decorating the offices, Tilakarhut knew how to address our business and objectives. We want to stand out among other financial institutions. We operate near the customer, and our offices must at the same time embody comfort and certain value,” explains branch director Tuomo Helavirta.
“Another important factor in banking services is to offer privacy when meeting the customers. We ensure this with glass partition walls that have been designed for Ideapark following the graphic identity of Oma Säästöpankki.”
Locality meets interior design
Local presence is the strength of Oma Säästöpankki. This becomes obvious looking at the Ideapark offices, too.
“We got a great idea from Tilakarhut to hang paintings of local buildings on the walls. We exhibit custom-made paintings that depict the churches of Vesilahti and Lempäälä and the mansion of Laukko.
All visual ideas have been approved by Oma Säästöpankki’s marketing department. Now we can apply the same ideas to our other offices.”
Tilakarhut managed interior design and furniture purchases. Tuomo Helavirta managed construction through his own network. At best, the site of more than 80 square meters employed more than ten people.
“All of our partners are professionals that we can trust.”
Tilakarhut has also managed the interior design of the bank’s offices in Vesilahti.
No rigid formula
“The offices were built into an empty space, and the whole project took less than two months to complete,” says Helavirta, pleased.
“We have received extremely nice feedback from our customers – both regarding the look and location of the branch.”
While other banks weed out their offices, Oma Säästöpankki opens new locations.
“The rigid formula of banking services does not suit us. We want to be available and serve our customers at their convenience. We already offer the longest opening hours on work days, and my guess is that we will be the first bank to serve customers on Saturdays,” Tuomo Helavirta says.
An independent bank offers local service
Oma Säästöpankki Oyj consists of the strong and profitable local banks in South Karelia, Kymenlaakso, South Savo, Southern Ostrobothnia, Pirkanmaa, Häme, Satakunta and North Karelia.
Oma Säästöpankki is the biggest savings bank in Finland. With a balance of circa 1.9 billion euro. The company hosts 45 offices around Finland and employs more than 250 persons, offering service to approximately 125,000 customers.
“Our banks are independent, not syndicated. This enables making decisions locally where our customers are. At the same time we ensure that our customers’ capital gain stays in the area where it was produced,” says branch director Tuomo Helavirta.
The strategy of Oma Säästöpankki is not to grow to become the biggest bank in Finland but to function as the best bank in its territories.
“We are the bank of happy customers. Our customers take care of their financials sensibly and prepare for the future,” Tuomo Helavirta notes.
